Welcome to NoMoreBets. My name is Lili and I'm a recovering compulsive gambler living in New Zealand. I hope that you will join us as you pursue a life that does not include gambling.
This board allows members to participate in a number of ways, and include but are not limited to: Journaling, responding to posts written by others, contributing to research on compulsive gambling. All contributions related to your and other's recovery is welcome.
We encourage active participation for the following reasons:
1) Members who contribute to the life of the community are more likely to keep their recovery, rather then their addiction, active
2) New members are more likely to feel 'safer' joining an active community experiencing and sharing recovery whatever form it takes
For someone addicted to gambling, the outcomes are always devastating-- we need to arrest the addiction, we need to do it now, and we need to learn to do whatever it takes to stay away from the bet. Life is worth more, and is worth living without gambling.
So if you are seeking a support community with places to write your story, respond to your life as it was and is now, read about gambling addiction and its causes and effects, and begin to seperate the strands of compulsive gambling from 'ordinary' life, please register, and introduce yourself. You can then get to know the members of this online community, and they you.
Much of the board is private-- what that means is that by registering you will be granted access to an area in which you may introduce yourself to the board. Access to the private members area may then be granted. We do this to help members maintain their privacy.
